I know this is an old post, but I wanted to thank you Bondo and new2boatz. I am so grateful you posted this. This last weekend, my prop fell off while boating in the Columbia River near Hood River, OR. Had a McGard prop lock on a 4-blade stainless steel prop. Checked it was tight at the beginning of the season. It fell off while I was in a commercial shipping channel. Thankfully, was rescued by a kind boating family who towed us to a ramp and dock. I had a spare prop, but not a spare nut/kit. Had to walk to NAPA where they had a kit for a Dodge spline that worked! It was this post that got us there, to determine the treads of the nut. You guys saved the day! No way to walk back / and at a small Washington town, no easy way to drive back either (over 30 miles by boat). You never know where helping someone on a post like this will help others, and I just wanted to thank you very much! This was the only post that I found while walking/standing in an automotive store that indicated (correctly) the size of the nut. Thank you Thank you! Shout out to NAPA and the kind family that not only towed us to shore, but got us out of the way of an on-coming commercial barge. Boaters are some of the best people! Needless to say, I will be carrying an extra prop nut kit on-board now.
