I have an 86 Bayliner with a 2.3L AQ131A I think I am going to have to have some carb work done on it cause it seems to be flooding from out of the the flame arrestor and leaking into the bilge, but anyway. I called the marine shop and asked if they did any work on volvo engines, and the lady asked me if it was manufactured in the USA or if it was made in Sweden. I told her I did know and she told me to go someplace else. Does anyone know how I could tell if the motor was manufactured in Sweden? or have any Idea why it would be flooding over the carb? Thanks ahead of time!

I don't know about how to tell where it was made, but does it have the clear hose from the fuel pump to the carb? If so, is it full of gas?

Yes it has the clear hose, but no, it is not full of gas. Is that hose supposed to recirculate the fuel?

If the fuel pump has a problem it will pump gas through that hose and into the carb instead into the bilge. Why it is flooding....I would guess the float. Do you have the serial number off the motor?

older volvos could be based on a volvo car motor or in some cases be a marine only motor makeing the marine parts harder to get

http://www.dougrussell.com/partscat...fm?fuseaction=group&group=1898&GroupList=1898

here is a place that shows your motor

These carbs are for the most part exactly the same as automobiles, take the numbers off the carb and go to any larger automotive auto parts store and order the kit and take it to a good auto mechanic and have them rebuild it,and as for where it was made if it was from sweden it would say so on the outdrive in the cover that goes over the shift linkage.

what year is the boat and what out drive is it?
