just installed a new trim pump on my 1988 aq211a with 290 outdrive, my question is whats the proper way to use this, i know the shaft is always spinning when the engine is running so how do i beach this boat? i have the digital guage on the dash that lights up green then goes to red, im thinking that is the trim range when underway and the safe point when running but this does not lift the outdrive up enough for safe beaching, i guess i can kill the motor and glide in slow with the outdrive up, is this the proper way to use this trim, whats the safe range when running and is it ok to trim when underway? i have been running the boat last year in the down position because the drive would creep down when underway now that its fixed i want to use it correctly!sorry for the long post

Re: vp 290 trim question

When you raise the drive above the trim range, keep the rpm down to 1000 rpm or less. DO NOT go all the way up with the engine running. At that point you would be shooting water up in the air anyway, and not moving forward.
