I have a VP GSI w/DP. Year 2000 Drive S/N 4202008196.

I pulled the drive off this weekend to check things and change bellows.(Three years old) Well first off my shift cable broke where it goes through the whole in the drive. I have an OMC binnacle not sure what type of cable to get to replace it. But most concerning is that i found drive oil in my upper bellows. The oil was clean and looked as if it came right out of the bottle, not black like what i drained from the drive itself. I cannot find any evidence of a leak anywhere and i drained almost a full 2.5 quarts. Any one have any ideas?

I also need a good source for part #s for bellows, shift cable

All help is greatly appreciated

You don't have to replace the complete control, just the cable.
The cable is nothing more than a standard Teleflex/Morse 33C cable. You can get them here at iboats.

What you need to do is find out how long your cables are. It's embossed on the cable near one end.

But most concerning is that i found drive oil in my upper bellows.

If the drive is overfilled, it will blow oil out the front seal, and can damage the front seal too. Or, the seal is leaking. Hard to say which.
To replace the seal, the front bearing carrier in the outdrive has to be removed dissassembled. Seal replaced, new crush sleeve installed and be bearing preload reset per specs.

For parts, go to the top of this page just above your post and click on Volvo Penta parts.
