VRO/OMS oil tank wiring

I just got a new/used oil tank to replace the one I have which needed some new parts.
My engine is a 1990 V6 J200TXESM, not a "system check" set up, but it does have no oil and low oil alarms.

The current (old) tank has two wire cord emerging with connections under the hood -one connects directly to a bolt (ground)

and the other connecting with a barrel connector to the tan wire for the alarm.

The new tank also has two wires emeging from the tank, but one is tan and the other black and they end in a 2 hole rubber (I think amphenol} connector.

Obviously, It would be easy enough for me to snip the wires and connect them as the old tank is connected, but I'm unsure if I have the correct sending unit in the tank since the connector is different. I understand that the newer "system check" oil tanks send a different signal to the warning system than the old ones and also have a different wire harness connector.

Do I have the correct tank - in other words, do you think it will work if I just snip the wires and connect to ground and tan, or have I received the wrong tank/sending unit.

A new oil tank for your age motor should come with an adapter pigtail that has the bullet connector for the tan wire and a ring connector for the ground. If you don't have one, then just cut the wires and install the correct terminals.

The SystemCheck oil tanks use a hard plastic 2wire Deutsch connector.

A new oil tank for your age motor should come with an adapter pigtail that has the bullet connector for the tan wire and a ring connector for the ground. If you don't have one, then just cut the wires and install the correct terminals.

Thank you very much! As I was getting around to this project (cleaning up the tank, measuring hoses, etc.) I was wondering if there's a "bench" test for the tank sender - using an ohm meter or something to check the switch and to see if it's an "on-off" switch or a repetative on/off type of deal. That would be the difference between the two senders if I'm not mistaken.

To moderators and fellow iboatians: I am sorry if the photos I posted are too big for the screen. When I originally posted them (from a different computer, which I now realize has a different size monitor), they fit fine. Now I see they're too large on this screen. I'll pay better attention next time. It irritates me when such large photos are posted, so I don't like it and will avoid it in the future.
