VRO stuff

Hello, I've got a 84/85 Johnson 90hp with the VRO fuel pump and all of the hoses that go with it. My question is, should I eliminate the VRO fuel pump and go with a normal one I have from my 81 Evinrude 90hp? Also, is this an easy switch? I have no intention of getting an oil tank. Thanks for any advise!

You should be able to cap the oil input to the fuel pump, and run premix in the boat tank. No need to change the fuel pump, as long as it functions normally. Disconnect the low oil alarm

agree, the pump off the 81 will not directly convert. 81 is a 2 hose, block mount pump, you would need a 3 hose, pluse pump ($100)

You should have both fittings on the intake manifold, so you could use either one. Look for two threaded holes for mounting the conventional lift pump.

On the other hand, converting the VRO to premix costs nothing and takes just a few minutes; it's a much more powerful pump than the lift pump.

That's cool, I've already got the oil intake line capped. I'll just leave well enough alone. Thanks guys!
