the vro system on my 1991 150 evinrude was "disabled" by the previous owner, so they've been mixing their oil and gas. since I'm rebuilding this engine, I'm going through each system piece by piece. I'd like to know the "correct" way for this to be done...to double check their work. Also, is there a fuel pump available for this instead of the vro pump? Thanks in advance.

Re: vro system

It would help to know which 91 150 you have, a crossflow or 60 degree looper.

In any case, using the fuel/oil pump as a straight fuel pump is OK. In fact that pump will pump more fuel than the older style fuel pumps.

Basically you cap off the oil inlet nipple and disable the alarm. Just unplug the wire harness coming from the pump. We assume there is no oil tank so those wires dont exist anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's an "eagle" series block. As for being a looper or cross flow, I couldn't tell you. Serial #'s are E150exeis/e150nxeis if that helps. Thanks again.
