My Johnson mechanic said I should only use the OMC/Bombadier stabilizer, because others could damage the diaphrams in the VRO pump. Anyone have a second opinion on this? I would just as soon use STA-BIL as with my other equipment.

Sta-Bil is what I've been using for several years. The local John/Rude dealer is who first recommended it.I just run it through before the off season.

Early vro pumps were not alcohol resistant (isopropyl is in most stabilizers).

My vro has a little tag that says "alcohol resistant."
