I'm putting a storage shed down the hill from my house, will be about 50' from the road that goes to the subdivision behind my house. (easment)

I need to put in some sort of driveway to drive from that road to the shed, but would like it to be something I can mow over, this won't get used very often, but need to be able to access in all weather.

I was thinking of digging down, put down sand, and then bricks with the holes in them. Thinking grass could grow through and make it disapear....

Thoughts?

Sounds like it would work. My question is why do you want to hide it?

I Think you're thinking Too Hard about this................

Depending on the Kind of Ground this is,... Hard ground,.. Soft ground,.. Muddy at times,..??.. Up hill,... Side hill,... Down hill,.??
And, Depending on whether the Finish Grade has to be Raised,.. or Lowered,... or has to be Exactly at the elevation it is Now,..??...

You Could just drive across the grass that's There.......

You Could put in a 6" Gravel roadbed,...... And just let the Weeds,+ Grass take over,... a year or two with little traffic,... It'll be Green......

Or,... You Could dig out a trench that's 6" deepby the width you'd like,(this is called "Boxing it out")+ Fill it with Gravel,... Like I said,.. It'll Green up by itself,...

Around here,.. The Gravel/ Stone of Choice is Crushed Limestone....... The Weeds,+ Grass Love it,.... It'll Green up in a Year,+ Still support reasonably heavy traffic......

Oh,...... I can also tell you,.... Sand makes a Lousy Road.... It Doesn't Compact,......

MO has some of the greatest crushed chat. Put in a sheet of 10-12' wide geo-textile fiber and about 6" of crushed chat. That will stay in place and the grass/weed will take it over. Got to cover that MO clay with fiber or your stone will perc up mud and eventually vanish.

I have built close to 100+ miles of road that way in MO and they are still holding up (I did use more base about 2') but for your needs that should work fine.

Bob you are not kidding about the chat, I live down here in mining country and we have huge chat dumps, I am sure the lead is all removed LOL. Anyway the more we get rid of the better!
