Shopping for a new boat. I LOVE the walk around fishing boats. I love out boards. I just think these style of boats do better when it gets kicked up off shore.
Boats that I love Wellcraft 252 Coastal.

The Pro-Line 26 Express

My wife likes the soft cushie side of boating when we are rafting together with friends and a cabin with private head, cushions everywhere, microwave, frig, stove, exc. She loves the cruisers like

The Monteray 250cr

The Rinker 260cr

The only semi comprimise I have found is the Searay Amberjack 270. It has the fish stuff I like and cruiser stuff that she likes. I need more options then just one. I wish these fish boats had more to offer in cushie stuff to make the wife happy and still deliver a decent fish boat. Please help with any sujestions.

The more expensive fish boats will at least have nicer appointments. See Albemarle, Fountain, Grady-White, Robalo, Stamas, etc. Over in Europe it's pretty common to see cruiser types with a fishing cockpit. Sort of the same theme as the Amberjack. But they won't do you much good with the exchange rate what it is!

Well call me prejudiced but you can't go wrong.

For what your looking for will be tough to find in the mid tier boats your looking at. Overall quality just isn't there.

Might be a bit larger than your looking for but the Express 290 may fit your needs a bit better (specially the wifes) rather than the 270. :D

Also looking at the website pics on some of these boats the interior pictures sure are distorted because of the camera lens used, something I noticed first when viewing shots of motorhome interiors.

I forgot to mention.. I need to be able to tow it. Yes, Europe does have alot to offer for fishing up on deck and cruiser comforts down below. Any and all sujestions of Manufacturers are needed.

I just cant belive I am the only guy that runs into this issue with the wife. Boating is a huge compromise of everything. I am wanting a happy wife verses just a wife if you know what I mean.

Maybe a director of desighn will read this thread and discover a nitch that is horably unrepresented in the boating market.

Talk to Stamas, their boats are mostly built to order anyway.

And yes the wife is important you just don't see it here on this site because it mostly deals with problems and fixes. If you were to visit other sites you will see the term "Admiral" a LOT!!!:D:D

Re: Wanting new boat. Cant find what I want

I'm in the market for the same type of boat. The closest boat I've seen to my needs is the Amberjack. The 29 footer weighs ~11.5K pounds dry. The 27 footer weighs in at ~7.5K pounds dry. Right now I'm in the middle of the two from this manufacture because of gas. The 29 has twins verses the 27 with a single. The 29 has a 230 gal gas tank and 10' 6" beam verses the 8'6" beam on the 27.

The express is also nice but not as many on the market YET.

I can get my hands on the 29 Amberjack for 40K in like new conditions with windlass, gen set, a/c, and other typical cruiser amenities, with basic electronics.

If you find something that fits the bill, let me know. I'm taking my time looking, and allowing the market work it's magic to drop prices.

Good luck!!
