warning module trouble

I have a 1999 200HP Mercury Outboard. In the early spring I replaced the warning module because it would just beep steady as soon as I turned on the key. Now 2 months later I am not getting the Beep Beep Beep when the key is turned on. I am a little confused that when doing the test procedures when I loosened the black wire from the warning module and reset it the alarm will go Beep Beep Beep until I turn the key off then it will stop. But when the key is turned back on I get silence. I have ohmed out the Oil level switch and the high temp switch. When the alarm is going off I can disconnect any wire form the module without the alarm going off, except the tan/blue wire when I disconnect it the alarm goes off. I am not looking forward to replacing another warning module, could there be something that would cause the module to go bad that I should be looking at? Thanks
