Why I ask is..when I bought my boat last summer the original owner said. "It says 160 on the outdrive but it's really a 140". I didn't pay much attention to him but last week I was looking for a thermostat for it and came across a couple of books that showed there being a 140 (4 cyl) and a 140 (6 cyl). I remember also that in whichever aftermarket manual I ended up with (I can't remember the name at the moment)the wiring diagram for a 160 was quite a bit different than what was on my boat and the diagram for the 140 was dead on, except of course the two less plug wires. Not that it really matters much to me but I guess I should get it straightened out in my head before I order some wrong parts sometime.

hmmm...mine is a 69 so it must be a 160. I can't remember the SN but it seems like it started with 24....
