Hello ,I have a 87 gulf stream, with 500 hours and the wash down pump went south .Its only been the salt water a few months so I think that's why it went.the pump I think is original .I have the pump out its a Johnson type 15 rated at 200kpa {2} bars [65.6} 160 kpa {1.6}bar at 52.5 ft and off 220kpa {2.2 bars { at 72.2 ft what does that mean ? I have not had a wash down/ live well pump combination before this one so I do not know how the system works , the toggle switch on the dash says " live well up on " wash down switch down on} ,does this change the way the pump works ?I would like to have more pressure on the wash down side. and more flow in the live well >I would also like to have the live well circulate, on and off for say 5 min every 25 min so I can leave bait it over night . any help would be appreciated, i love the boat also looking for a swim plat form thanks

Re: washdown pump

plenty of options... take a look at the gpm listed on the pump, that's everything. most are 3.5, 4.0, or 4.5. if yours is 3.5, go with a 4.0, etc. i just replaced mine this year, i guess it lasted 12 years ('94 boat)

switch on the dash most likely just energizes the pump. on my explorer, my pump handles the washdown and baitwell. i have a valve at the base of the baitwell to switch the flow from washdown and baitwell.

Re: washdown pump

All three are units of measure for pressure.

100kpa = 1 bar

1 bar is equal to 14.7 PSI

XX.X Ft. is the head pressure which for freshwater is equal to 2.31 psi per ft.

You need really need different pumps for each operation. On the bait tank you need a low flow/ low pressure and on the washdown you want a high flow / high pressure pump.

On my 98 Seafarer I installed another pick up and installed a second pump. One for the live well and one for the washdown.

Thanks Sea hunter ,that is what I was thinking about. What pumps are you using ? I was thinking of a bait sentry 500 with a valve on the hose to adjust flow., With a wash down pump. The bait sentry has a hook up for another pump on it , mounted in the motor compartment removing it from under the seat .

Re: washdown pump

I'm running a Parmax 4 on the washdown and a Shurflo on the bait well.

I'll also correct one of my above statements, it's 2.3 ft. per psi and not the reverse as stated earlier.
