water coming out of prop on suzuki 55

I have a Suzuki 55 hp (1984 model I believe). It hasn't been ran for about a year and I'm trying to get it going. When running it in my yard with a water hose hooked up, water is gushing out of the rear of the prop. I'm not sure what could be the cause. The motor doesn't want to run very long and I'm wondering if the problems are related. The water pump is working fine. Water is coming out of the discharge like normal. Any advice on what could be the cause would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.<br /><br />Wackyworm

Water is supposed to come out of the prop mixed with the exhaust. I believe all thru the prop hub OBs do the same. Relax and find out why the motor isn't running right. If its been sitting up for a year you may need to rebuild the carbs.

Like jimd said, rebuild the carbs, you might also want to do a rebuild on the fuel pump,and pay close attention to your water pump.<br />If i were you, since the motor was idle for so long, i'd install a new impeller as well,just to be on the safe side.
