Water comming out of drive?

Hey guys, I just did a water pump kit on a 91 200hp rude, I put it on the muffs and there is water comming out og the leading edge of the drive. Is thatsupposed to happen? It looks like its comming out from where the shifter rod area is? When the engine is on with the muffs on it is gushing out of there. Is that supposed to be like that? Or is there a cracked down pipe or something? Stupid me I put it back together without checking.

i would think it does as that area is being pressurized by the hose? but i cannot answer for sure but im sure someone will, i think mine has water and crud come out of there while in the water because after recently flooding my motor and making a bunch of sluge, when i put it in the water, and raan it, below that area has a lot of carbon/oily sluge marks like it leaked out! i have a johnson so it is easily wisible on the white!

Water excapes from the pump housing, around the hole where the drive shaft goes through. There are a couple of large drain holes to get rid of that water so it doesn't rise clear up and damage the powerhead. That is what you are seeing.
