leak at housing gasket

leak at housing gasket

hi, im curious to what a water leak repair would cost on my 1987 envinrude 40 hp vro. after sitting over the off season my motor seems to be spitting water from places that ive never noticed prior to this season (note: motor is always stored with stabilizer and fogger..and antifreeze in cooling system) . the water stream from outlet is steady and normal.....but (10")above water muff intake there is a brace or collar that wraps 75% of midsection(closest to transcom) ...water seems to be gushing out from under it . and also a small leak from under hood where motor meets midsection....water dribbles out of rear of engine compartment. motor runs fine and doesnt seem to be overheating. i realize its hard to determine whats the cause in a thread......but having the knowledge you gurus have..........any ballpark diagnosis of what this repair entails and its cost of parts and labor repair cost....ballpark???? just curious of what my options for repair are before bringing it in for work. enclosed is a picture marking the areas where the water is gushing. all responses appreciated. thank you ps, sorry the diagram is small, but its marked with explaination of problems

thanx tashasdaddy

kevin how about a picture of your motor with marks where it is leaking. no offense, but most of us know the diagram, or have it available.

Re: water gushing all of a sudden , 40 hp vro

thanks for explaining, #3 is normal. 1 & 2 look like the gasket is gone. i'm not a mech., but to replace it i think the powerhead has to come off. don't know if it will hurt of not.
looks like it's leaking at the housing adapter gasket. i'd start a new post, but keep track of this one, because we get alot of gushing water problems that are not problems. title it '84 rude 40hp gushing at housing gasket.' it will attract more attention. good luck

nevermind, dealer told me to check a couple of places, turns out it was the tell tale pisser hose dry rotted at the bottom of block nipple causing the leak.....30 second fix and she dry to the bone under there. thanx guys..............i just sold her, so no more issues with the vro:) .
