Water in oil!

Just picked up a new to me 24' Zeta c/w 5.0 Alpha 1, it came with a 1996 Yamaha 9.9 EXHR Serial # UL 786141
As I have no idea how long since the last oil change, I decided to drop the oil and change it as well as the leg oil and the impeller. When I loosened the oil drain plug, I got about a quart of water, then another quart of whiteish oil!

Head gasket gone? Other ways for water to get into the oil?

Regards;
Mark

Re: Water in oil!

cracked head/block, corrosion eaten through water jacket are a couple of thoughts.

I would be afraid of water sitting in there for a long time and bearings and crank rusted up also

Chit, I was afraid that was the answer.
Guy definatly saw me coming on this boat deal!!!
Tells me he had everything running in May, but the in hull fuel tank is leaking, so we never had a chance to run the main (5.0) or the kicker. I did pull the dipstick on the main, the oil was clean, never thought to check the kicker!!
