Goodday all: I have a 305 Chev engine seems to have no water in bilge when boat is in the water. However everytime I go out the next day there is about 1 to 2 gallons of water in the bilge. If I drain the water out completely and leave the boat in the water for a couple of days the is no accumalation of the water in the bilge. Any clues ???/

We understand that, tommays, but what about his question? ;)
Are you saying that at the end of a day of boating there was no water in the bilge, but the next day there was? Did it rain that night?

Are you saying if you run the boat you have water after, but if you just leave the boat floating and not been run there is no water present?

Possible your engine block petcocks are not fully closed? Could it be that while you are running the water is sufficiently moved through the system and deposited out with the exaust, but while sitting after, the block slowly drains out the petcocks?

Merc?Have you had your drive off & checked for water in your bellows? Does water come in from the weep hole on the transom above the drive shaft?

It could be anything that is under water when the boat is sitting. When up on plane, the transom is not under water so no leak.
You MUST get a flash light and mirrors and anything else that may help and LOOK for the leak. I've had trim tab cylinders that leaked water, thru hull fittings for water pumps cracked, everything possible on the transom plate is suspect. Where the wires come through, hoses, hard to say for sure since you won't say rather you have a Merc, OMC, Volvo or whatever.

Is anyone getting in & out of the boat? We drag in a couple of gallons of water that way a hour, especially if we start drinkin & divin off the bow! Water everywhere. Also my 2 built in coolers drain into the bilge as the ice melts. Maybe spray over the bow? It's real east to get a couple of gallons during a cruise, heck I'd be disappointed if we didn't get the boat wet!!

All suggestions are possible cause's a few other spots can be a leaking exhaust manifold or exhaust tubes and risers, power steering cooler also. If all about the motor is dry, then look under the Rubrail around the hull to deck joint and see if there is any voids ..it should be sealed with silicone, if not then its possible spray is entering the boat. Just one more question....did you start to notice this after winter storage...I'm assuming your in Kingston Ontario.
