water in the boat

i got a 1984 larson mercruiser 140. went out on the water yesterday a ton off water in the boat. (thank god for automatic bilge pump). when i got boat home i saw that the shifter bellow was completly torn off is it hard to change and do i have to take off stern drive just to change bellow?

If you are lucky and have a rear attaching cable you just need to pull the drive and the cable will come out from the back after detaching form the shift converter and pull the plastic slide off.. If not you will have to pull the drive and the bell housing form the gimbal ring. You need to get the cable out of the boat to put the new boot over it.
