I live in france and i use a DF70 four stroke. One day the engine didn't want to start. It seems there is few water in the fuel and the high pressure fuel pump is dead. The supplier in France told me the price : 660? Is there somebody who can tell me where i can provide me this part at a cheaper price ?

Is the pump dead from water or from sitting too long and gummed up ?

Re: water in the fuel

you might try this....if it is 'frozen' from water(corrosion), try tapping it with a hammer while turning key on repeatedly....I've seen a few 'unfrozen' just this easily...now if it burned up(which is unusual), then it is dead....

Re: water in the fuel

Thank you for all the reply. Yes, i have to install a water separator now.
When i open the vapor separator box, there was water and old fuel with gumm.
So, i don't know if it is the old fuel or the water or the both. What i know is the price of the high pressure fuel pump :(.
I have open the pump to see how it works so now i have to find a new pump.

Can i find a pump on an old motor ?

Re: water in the fuel

try soaking the pump in Mercury brand 'Power Tune' for a day or two...then repeatedly putting short bursts of electric(12v) to it...we have also had some success bringing them back to life by putting them in our ultrasonic carb tank...hopefully you haven't destroyed your pump
