When I trim my motor down to start it, I noticed there was water in the inside of the leg up to the relief ports. Is this normal? If not what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks for any help

sorry but I have NO idea what you are talking about.. what relief??? and what leg??? I have mostly heard the LEG referred as either the lower unit or a stern drive... are you talking about the trim system?? or the outboard?? or have you had some surgical procedure where the DR. installed a valve in your leg... the one connected to your foot?

Re: Water in the leg

The bottom of the leg is open as that is where the exhaust comes out ...if you trimmed it up in hte water there may be some water in the leg but not up to the higher exhaust holes..There are usually some small vent holes above the anti ventilation plate that let water out

Can't do a thing about it.Once you get moving like FUCAWI says it drains out.
Some people shouldn't post when they are drinking!!

are you referring to with the cover off and looking by the exhaust tube??? if so that'll be at the water line and can't drain water seeks it's own level..but as you move it does go down thru those holes see if they are clogged...but it's normal to see water in the leg unless your drains are clogged

Re: Water in the leg

This is perfectly normal because the leg isnt sealed. Eventhough the leg cover has a "seal" near the bottom it doesnt seal. It's more like a vibration bushing or dampener for the motor leg cover that holds everything in place.
