Water in the oil in a Suzuki DF70

I have a 1998 Suzuki DF 70 four stroke engine. The engine was maintenanced in september 2005 and ive been running the engine only twice this year. I have now discovered water in the oil in the engine. The motoroil are white. What can it be?

A thermostat stuck open will cause an engine to run too cool, and will cause condensate in the oil. Look there first.
