i have an 86 yamaha 90hp ob and it started running rough one day so i checked all three plugs and found that the bottom one was not running at idle. the next time i went out the motor bogged down so i turned it off and checked the plugs again and found that both the bottom and the middle plugs had water in them.do you think it might be the head gasket or something worse?

Howdy, Helms.

Welcome to iboats. :)

I would start by checking the headgasket. It could be something worse, but don't fret about that unless the gasket is good.

Good luck. :)

i checked the head gasket and it looks like it could be the problem but it's not real noticable. do you think that maybe it could still bypass the gasket without blowing the gasket? should i check the head and block for warpage? also the bottom piston looks like maybe it is closer to the cylinder wall on the bottom side than the top.

Give her a new head gasket. Helms.

Be sure the torque-ing is to spec and in correct sequence.

Then do a compression check. If she passes that try her out on the water.

Good luck, and let us know what you find. :)
