I just replaced everything in the pressure relief system. But I didn't pay attention to how it went together and now water is coming out the vent hole in reiief cover. The grommet and carrier are in the block. On side of the pressure relief plate I have the spring, washer , poppit (in that exact order). On the other side I have a screw, washer, diaphragm, metal o ring, and water deflector. What order do you put these things in. I can't see how the diaphragm makes a good seal with it on top of the water deflector and o ring. Should the edges of the diaphragm be tucked under the water deflector? What is this o ring, I don't see it in any diagrams in the manuals. I have a design III pressure relief system.

Please help this is driving me nuts, and I know it has to do with the diaphragm not making a good seal with the p. relief plate.

-thanks andy

I did this already. This how I assembled it and water came out. But, I could not find that damm oring. And the fact remains, that I don't see how the diaphragm can seal up when it is just resting atop the water deflector

Anyone know how to get the diaphragm to make a good seal, while it sits on top of the water deflector? Still have this extra o-ring that doesn't appear in the assembly diagram at mercury parts express, but It was on there when i disassebled and it worked before that.

I'm not sure about the o-ring but if it was on there before and it looks like it belongs there it should probably go on (if that helps you any). But your problem is that the diaphram is not seated properly in the contours of the plates... Keep working at it...

KCLOST,
Ahah! You might be on to something
If there is an inner rim within the relief plate, I bet a tuck the sides of the diaphragm in that rim and the o-ring on top of the diaphragm but in the inner rim as well. This would surely give a snug/tight fit. I will try this.

thanks-
andy
