First post here..

The water pickup tube that runs from the impeller housing to the power head came out in process of replacing impeller, housing, etc.

The tube is flared at the powerhead end; it obviously (in my opinion) came through the grommet or what ever at the powerhead end. The other grommet lower down will kinda hold it while I re-attatch the lower unit.

My question is, will re-attatching the lower unit be sufficient? That tube is not completely seated in the grommet, but it is being held in place. The only other option I see is to pull the powerhead and replace that tube from the top.

Any better ideas?

Thank you.

I'm thinking sleeve it and shorten the excess.

Thoughts, problems?

Is the tube broken? If not, just reassemble as directed in the shop manual. No sleeve or other changes should be necessary if it just fell out of the powerhead. You do have a shop manual for your outboard, right? If not, go cough up the cash and get one. It will pay for itself the first time you use it.
