My boat has a 1989 Yamaha Pro V 150. I would like to fit a water pressure gauge for this motor and need to know what sort of pressure (in PSI) I should have under normal conditions. I need to know this in order to choose a suitable gauge.

The motor seems to have good water flow through the tell tale but no water through the exhaust relief. Is this normal ?

What’s the difference between a Pro V 150 and normal 150 ?

Re: Water Pressure ... howmuch ?

It is a good rule of thumb to have at least 10lbs of water pressure when you are running. But the more the better. I have a 1994 Pro V 150 and I usually run at 4200 RPM and get between 13-15lbs of pressure, and at an idle about 7. If you are not getting 10 lbs while you are running it is time to check the water pump. You will not see that much water expended through your exhaust relief, it is more of a mist, and it only comes out when the thermostats have opened so it will take a few minutes at least. Hope this helps.
