I just did a water pump on a 140 looper big gear case. Is it normal for water to come out of the holes at the rear of the lower unit? The two little pee holes that are where the shift rod is just under the fins.I have it running on muffs and getting water from the holes on the top of the lower unit but very little from the pee hose. I ran it about 10 minutes and it did stay cool enough to touch. I've never had a motor shoot water from there, Thanks

Intead of running it on a hose run it in a bucket. On a hose you do not know if the pump is working well. Were you careful when assembling the housing so that the grommet goes into the water tube upon assembly?

I use two different buckets. Usually a plastic 55 gallon drum cut just a little higher than half way as well as a livestock style galvanized tank that I made a lid for if you need to run in gear with a test prop on. Either way the water level in the bucket should be quite a few inches higher than the level of the pump housing.

I'll take it out on the river this weekend if time allows. And I was very careful to make sure the water tube was correct. It's kinda tuff to actually watch to see if it is pumping good because it's on a bracket.
Thanks
