I have a 150 mag mariner 1987. Question is does the tube coming out of the water pump housing have to be seated in the rubber part of the housing. It also does not spit water out of the outlet until the motor warms up, could this be a proppet problem. Thanks.

Re: Water pump tube

The tube will seat itself in the pump housing.Be sure so silicone around the exhaust housing and the teltale wont pee till the motor warms up around 143 degrees if the T-stats are and should be installed.

1988 150 BLK MAX
Just replaced the poppet in mine. I have a stream at the start. Easy to do & cheap. Now I know the poppet is good.
Dead Eye

Re: Water pump tube

It has always ran hot when at W\O but the alarm has only sounded once in ruff water. I put in a new pump, the old one looked fine. The T-stats are about a year old. I am going to change the Poppet and seal the chamber off which I did not do when I had it apart. And thanks for the replies.
