My merc 16 water pisser is eratic it poors lots sometimes and a little at others so i took the thermostate cover off and the pointy end is out the thermostate part is in the block no does the water come from the impeller and cool the engine and when it gets hot open the thermostae and let it open therfore letting the water out to the pisser and exhast port which are on the cap i looked
Am i rifgt or is there something wrong

Not entirely sure what you're asking, but here's a few tips. If the impeller has never been changed since you've owned it, you should. It could easily result in poor water circulation and worse.

Impeller p/n 47- 42038Q02

The telltale hose is to the thermostat cap, but I believe it should have a water stream regardless of whether the stat is open or closed.

When was the last time the water pump and thermostats were serviced / replaced ???
If you do not know then it is time to do it to keep on the safe side.
A better explanation and photos in action would help.

re your pic ya thats exactly what it looks like i thought the water comes through the block to the thermostat temp sensore and opend the thermostat wich gives lots of water and the thermostate closes and just lets a little water out the pisser
