Water Source

In my 1989 Sea Ray 220 Sundancer, there is a hinged cover right under the entrance to the aft cabin. The hinged cover covers a sub channel that is about 4 inches wide, 5 inches deep, and 3 feet long. It has a bilge pump in it which wasn't working and has since been fixed. <br /><br />My question is this: does anyone know where the water would come from in this channel? I have felt with my hands, used a flashlight and tried everything but I can't figure out where water would come into this area. It's not a great deal of water, but it is there, and it concerns me. It doesn't appear to have any connection with the engine area bilge, which is always dry. Help me before I go crazy trying to figure it out. Thanks.

If your boat has a head compartment with a shower it could be a "shower sump". This is necessary because the shower drain in the floor is below the waterline and gravity can't be used to remove the water. It's also possible that this is a sump for a sink.<br /><br />You could ask a Sea Ray dealer.

If you have an ice box like me, it drains into this area. I,ve had the same issue with my 94,It does seem to collect more water than it should, the only other explaination I can come up with is condesation.I trailer mine so I know its not coming thru the hull.<br /><br /> Jim
