I have a 1941 Champion and if it's mounted next to my 90hp and if I tilt the Champion so I can use the 90hp water sprays into the exhaust tube of the Champion and I assume then could/will run into the engine. Is there a solution for this or can't I really use the Champion as a little trolling motor on my main rig?

Now there is an unusual question. I don't know how to answer it except to say that if the height of the exhaust tube outlet is higher than the powerhead's exhaust port, then yes it would run into the engine and mess it up.

You could use one of those kicker mounts then you would simply raise the motor and leave it verticle.
The other thought I had was to rig some sort of device to hold the motor tilted just enough to run the 90.

I knew this was unusual question. It would seem to me that even in it's day that when the motor was raised to the horizontal position that some water would theoretically still be in the tub and run into the engine. I guess there are some exhuast holes half way up that might drain most of it.

I'll try raising it up on the transom to see if I can get it high enough to keep it tilted the right direction. The kicker plate might be a solution but honestly it may be more than I had in mind. Besides it's a 1941, does it deserve retirement? 66 yrs old.

I just did a little reading up.It wasn't clear but it appears there may be a tensioner you can adjust so the raised motor will stay in position. So you may be able to raise it part way and it will stay there.

steelespike,

Were you reading about it on the web? If so can you give me a link please? I don't see a tensioner, at least that is obvious to me.

Disregard as I got into the wrong section with nothing to do with Champion.
And my book actually contains no Champion references of any consaquence.
