water temp install, where is the sensor?

I need to install a water temp. gauge on a 2001 225hp saltwater series Yamaha. I see what looks to be a temp sensor on top of the motor bolted to the head. It has two wires running from it. I see another another sensor more towards the back of the engine inbetween the head and plastic cover for the electronics. This sensor has only one wire running from it so I suspect it's the one. Sorry I was unalbe to post a picture for clarification. Anyone with any ideas?

you have to purchase the temp sender, yamaha makes one that threads into an existing plug, the motor had no temp sender from the factory for a temp guage.
