What are these things? They were on top of the leg when I pulled the powerhead off of my 125 hp force . They look like they connect the water tube to the powerhead. They're melted and were once round. I think I only need one. Looks like previous owner lost one in there.

Called a stand tube.
.It goes in the rear cover.
They really aren't needed.
They let the water in the cover when the motor is deep in the water.

I asked the same question a couple years back. I found mine melted floating around in there loose.
Took the time and effort to replace and re position, now they loose bouncing around again....
Like jerry said.....apparently not really needed.

I replace mine with some copper pipe many years ago. I believe it was 1/2 hard copper pipe. Measured the original plastic stand-offs. Cut the pipe to the correct length, including a threaded pipe fitting. Soldered on the standard threaded pipe fitting for 1/2" pipe. Bought the standard size pipe tap to match the threaded pipe fitting. Just so happens that the holes in the housing where the original plastic stand-offs are inserted is pretty close to the correct size for the tap. Tapped the holes, had to use a long extension to get the tap down to the holes. Pretty easy to tap since it's some type of aluminum alloy, use some WD-40 as lubricant. Just need to make sure you get the tap started straight. Inserted the copper pipe and screwed them in. Been working great like that for at least 7 or 8 years now.

I wondered about copper pipe. Also good ol' JB Weld. I'm putting a 150 hp powerhead on it and replacing motor mounts, so might as well do it up right while I'm in there.

I was going to order the plastic replacements too, but I figured that eventually they would break like mine did so I went with the copper pipe alternative. Well at least you know now. Good luck with your swap.
