I have a 1991 20 " bayliner trophey in great shape, it was always trailer . The bottom has a few small nick and gouge spots that need some repair . I think The Hull should wax out good But ! I though since it was a 16 yo boat and never painted before , I might be better off just having the bottom painted to help seal any small scrapes also . . What would be the best paint to do this ? I dont ever leave the boat in the water for more then a week at a time and I do trailer most of the time . WHat should it cost to have this boat bottom painted with proper method and paint ?Or should I just have dings repaired and wax it? Thanks JJB

Re: Wax or paint the boat ?

If your boat bottom isn't paint it don't. It kills the value of your boat. I would have the nicks fixed and then apply a good hard wax. Most boats that stay in the water for long periods of time and are at risk for blisters. If your boat is never in the water, then you don't need to worry about it.

Check out www.cleaniedini.com to find some good waxes. Griot's Garage makes a really hard wax that I have used on performance boat bottoms.

Good Luck
