Re: Wax paper for Bondo & fiberglass cloth

You have the right stuff, mat and cloth.

Did you look at the cloth ?? and then you say thats the Right way .. LOL .. Um .. No its not

Mat would have been better for your lams in this case .. that cheap V cloth sucks. For future reference is all ..

It all worked out....a good learning for me..I applied the rough stuff first than the woven...rough mat stuff was a pain.....mainly because Ive never worked with it before....I ended up with some un-needed bumps etc...but the belt sander took care of that... ;-). I made some mistakes etc. but there is nothing wrong with failing forward ! It all worked out....now I know even more next time. :) Thank you for all the tips......

Thnx. Not only did I have mat/resin all over my hands....I made too little for one batch.....had to run and make another....then I made too much for that batch and it got hard on me.....so I made my last batch and had some left over but got it all done....with many bumps and lumps and other scarey stuff that I was able to sand out-it didnt look pretty but carpet is going over it anyway so thats fine.LOL.

If you looked at the pics in post #15 and then your still standing your ground that this is the right glass for the repair in post #16 ? .. No I look and find things wrong now. This schedule is wrong.

Im not following you around lol .. and I do NOT Attempt .. I just tell it like it is mate.

Brook .. just use some mat with resin. work with it as fast as you can ( as you have already discovered ).

Thats all you really need ..

Re: Wax paper for Bondo & fiberglass cloth

ok...So, Im thinking that is what I have. I bought an 8 sq. ft. piece @ Aubuchon ( I live in a very rural area, so getting a wide assortment of FG to choose from is 40+ miles away). Its rough and does fall apart easily.....when I went to Napa- they said to use the woven cloth as it was stronger than the mat...because its woven....and you are saying that I need both....correct??

Im attaching a pic of what I have....hopefully this helps some.....View attachment 192920

Rough stuff on the left and the woven cloth on the right..... :)

You have the right stuff, mat and cloth.

YD, you obviously didn't read my prior posts in this thread about cloth.

This is NOT the right cloth .. I have read the whole thread. You might want to do the same .. the materials is NOT the right stuff.

Re: Wax paper for Bondo & fiberglass cloth

Again, if you read what I said about cloth not being a good product you might understand the rest of it.
I told him it wasn’t good, and desperately needed mat to be even somewhat useful (you may have missed that), he then asked about the other glass he had and wanted to know if it was mat. I said it was.

Now is this an ideal laminate…no…will it work….yes, it will work fine for what he’s doing.

Now if you want to nip pick further for no apparent reason, then go for it, we can go on all day if you please, but try to make your comments or insults accurate and defensible.

Please keep my responses in the context of the thread and question I'm answering, don't expand them to other situations where they may not be relevant.
