Re: waxing new paint

I can't speak for boats specifically, but a friend of mine runs a very good car body shop and he always said to wait at least a month for the finish to cure completely except for the catalyzed finishes. I have repainted a few vehicles and always stuck to the 1-month rule. If you wax too soon, the wax will contaminate the paint and you may end up with a "whitish" haze that probably won't come off.

The one month rule is what I've also used with success. The real reason you don't wax it is because if you do the paint can't breath to complete the drying/bonding process. Typically you'll have early oxidation or peeling paint if you wax too soon after painting.
