Need some advice/opinions on adding a trolling motor. Fishing out of a '73 Crestliner Muskie tri -hull (glass), empty weight 560lbs. Rated for 55hp, which I have on now. This boat is fairly shallow and I'm debating whether to use a bow mount 55lb thrust or hang my 7.5 mercury off the back. Concerned about the extra weight on the transom and just in back in general. Think the bow mount with the batteries up front would help keep this small boat level, as motor and batts would actually weigh more than the merc, but heck, I've already got the 7.5. Thanks for any input!

Re: weight on transom

The only way to really tell is to install the kicker on the transom, put the boat in the water and observe it. Walk back to the transom, and see if she takes on water, or is close. If not, you can work with the kicker, or the trolling motor.
