SoLittle - I will do that tommorow - thanks for the tip.<br /><br />Fireman57 - Now that i think of it, When i replaced the floats, it was sitting on more of a downward than level angle than the carb body - I will adjust that tommorow as well, yes i did replace the seats as well. I will take pics of all 3 plugs when i pull them tommorow as well.

You have checked that all is well with the lower unit - prop turns freely in neutral etc.? 20 yards of fishing line wrapped around the propshaft will make a motor act like the one in the video, too.

I listened to your video. You can hear it start to fire on 3 only after a few seconds.

Okie dokie - voodoo was absolutely right - just did the pulling off the plug test, the second i removed the top and middle plug the motor stalled.<br /><br />When i removed the lower plug the motor kept running just fine... so i guess the lower cyl isnt getting a spark.. So what do i need... Coil?<br /><br />The guy at the marina said to see if its the coil, hook up a known working one to the one that isnt sparking... well, that did nothing but make my motor not start at all... i figured if you hook up coil #2 to cyl #3 the spark timing would be off and wouldnt run anyways...<br /><br />Suggestions?<br /><br />P.S. - The carb floats were way off... adjusted them too.

Hi Mnemonic,<br /> Before you attack the lower cylinder's spark situation - did you actually check for spark? If the bottom carb isn't feeding fuel, it won't run that cylinder either. The spark should be able to jump a 3/8" gap and should be more or less white/blue. To swap a coil, you need to pull the sender wire out of the rubber plug where the coil wires meet up with the powerpack wires. Simply swapping plug wires won't work (as you surmised). I find a little CRC or WD-40 helps in removing/reinstalling the wire from the plug.<br /> Try spraying a bit of MIXED FUEL into the bottom carb as the motor is running to see if it picks up. That would help determine if you've got a spark issue or a fuel issue. Any evidence of water on the plug? Might indicate a blown head gasket. <br /><br />- Scott

Well, I know there is fuel in the lower carb, because I opened them today. I feel more evidence that it is the coil due to the fact that i noticed fuel spatter out the exhaust. <br /><br />I picked up a new coil today, was $35.00 - No harm in trying.<br /><br />Stay tuned, we will know the answer tommorow.

Anyone - Cant figure this out - The terminal and Boot coming from the coil. how does it connect? Does the terminal end get pushed into thw wire through the top or the side?

OK, new coil is on and all cylinders are firing! <br /><br />Carbs needed adjusting (again) because I acctually went out and bought the manual, and I had it wrong both times adjusting them.<br /><br />Will test drive tommorow, but looks like i'm all done here! <br /><br />Thanks guys!!!!!!!

THATS IT !!! IM DONE WITH THIS MOTOR!!!! GRRRR!!!!<br /><br />Still wasnt running good and i have no spark in # 3 again! Im ripping the motor off, I took the plugs out and the threads for cyl #2 came with the plug... NOW I NEED A NEW DAMN CYL HEAD? FORGET THAT!!!<br /><br />Anyone know how much HP My little 15' chris craft can handle? I cant find the plate on the boat that says it.. im buying a used motor and popping the max HP i can get.

Someone just offered me a mercury inline 6 90hp motor for $600! I'm a little afraid of putting that on my boat though Do you think 90HP is too much?
