Welcome to Massachusetts.

Here in the Commonwealth 4 of our esteemed and learned judges have decided that same sex couples must have full marriage rights. Civil unions just won't do so full certificates are being granted.

So we ask, that while you are here getting married that you please observe the following rules:

1) Please disregard the section of the marriage application that asks for the name of the man and woman. We will be changing the forms shortly, so in the mean time, please simply list both names in any order you chose.

2) Please disregard the section regarding a blood test. Since procreation is impossible, please simple fill in NA in that section.

3) Since we expect a sharp increase in the number of non-residents being married in the Commonwealth, we can no longer accept checks as payment. Please pay in cash or credit card.

4) For your convenience we will be setting up more locations closer to our borders, train stations and airports in order to facilitate a quick and easy transaction.

5) Until our courts rule, please continue to observe the prohibitions regarding bigamy and marrying a close relative. These rules may soon change, but in the mean time, we can not grant you a license.

Once again, welcome to Massachusetts and enjoy your stay.

Re: Welcome to Massachusetts The New Vegas

I saw that Mass was doing that Ralph. But decided not to say anything because it would start a topic we've been down a hundred times. Mass isn't doing anything NJ hasn't done already. except for the marriage part, We have civil unions here. Just passed by the way. Oh well, way of the future I suppose.

You guys still have the blood test? Jersey gave them up about 6 years ago. The only thing they were testing for was syphilis. Which there hasn't been an occurrence of in years. Instead of testing for the more prevalent STD's they just dropped the test, Go Figure.

I can't understand why people people can't mind their own buisiness.
People against same sex marriages are asking these humans who should have equal rights to sit at the back of the bus.
Its's about time. There is more to this than a piece of paper, and respect if you understand the facts.

You are so right Toad. If 4 unelected people want to change definitions as old as mankind who are we to judge to judges? In fact, I think we should dispense entirely with this crazy notion of democracy and just let any 4 people in the country call all shots. What a great idea!I wish I though of it  Maybe they will let people of MA own a handgun too...

Re: Welcome to Massachusetts The New Vegas

Disregard my last post.

Toad if it was just about equal rights, civil unions would have accomplished the same thing . The same rights afforded married couples.

The debate was not using the word marriage.

This goes to show the "other side" has no respect for how we feel.

There is no reason they could not go with "civil union" if it was just a piece of paper issue.

Why cant we meet in the middle.

We are trying but the more we give the more they want.

Why cant they respect our "Traditional" marriage

And we will respect their "civil union"??

I'll tell you why,

Its not about equal rights.
Its about cramming their lifestyles down our throats as abnoxiously as possible and trampling on our deep held beliefs and traditions.

The fact that civil unions does not go far enough for them is proof enough for me that they have an agenda they are not being honest about.

I'm done.

Ok Toad what is this all about? Enlighten us. What are the facts. Why do Gay's insist upon this? is it for finantial gain? Or just so they can believe their lifestyle is accepted? Im not trying to start a fight here but everytime this comes up its all about a minority insisting they are normal and rightous and deserve the same rights as married people do such as Insurance and tax breaks.....If this is the fact, just because they are having a physical ummmmm... relationship with somebody they dont deserve anymore then to guys who have been freinds for years. I tell you what I have a couple of friends I have know for many years none of us are gay but hmmmmmm dont we have some special rights too....or is it only if we sleep together?

gaugeguy-Kerry Does NOT support Gay marriage. Does that mean he can count on your vote in the Fall?

Toad, that's what he says now. Everybody knows Kerry re-invents himself every few months to try to scratch out a little more support. Notice he hasn't had a statement on this yet ;)

I could care less what someones sexual orientation is. My brother is gay and I have a great relationship with him and his "friend". I just think that a line has to be drawn somewhere. If this becomes legal it just opens the door to a whole bunch of places I don't think anybody wants to go to (incest, poligamy, age of consent, beastiality).

Kerry represents the state of Massachusetts.

Voting for Kerry would be condoning what I find offensive.

It is curious that he has made no statement on the recent events.

I am sure all his cronies are busy doing research to find out what side of the issue will get him more votes. Once they come to a conclusion I am sure he will have an opinion on the matter. ;)

This is what some people can't understand Gauge. They prefer to label you a homophobe because that is easier than trying to understand and accept the truth. As I've said before my best friend growing up was gay and I spent a good chunk of my youth defending him with my fists. I am no homophobe but there has to be a line, a respect for tradition and an end to the "in your face" agenda.
