roboat, yes, your water line should be below the frost line. I don't know if you have what they call a pitless adaptor (which sticks out above the ground) or if you have a pit that your line runs into to the well.<br /><br />You still should be able to fill the water line with water. Again if it doesn't hold the water, I would suspect your footvalve. A bud of mine said that it is possible that your screen on the footvalve could be clogged. This would also cause you pump to cavitate causing lack of pressure. That is if your line does hold the water in the line. Sounds like maybe you need a well/pump person to go out and check it.<br /><br />I have dealt with wells for a long time. I agree with bondo on using the submersible pump. It is easier for the pump to push the water out vs pulling it out. I changed mine out several years ago and have no regrets about it. Makes it alot quieter in the house for when the pump does kick on. Good Luck......
