It's a fairly decent day out here on the left coast in Calipornia. It's about 70 degrees here, with a wind chill of 75. ...Bob in Calif...

Up here on the muddy, and I do mean muddy, Mighty Ohio River, folks are camping over at the marina already and fishing. Hope they leave 'for Sunday gets here. We're supposed to git some cold and possible snow flurries. Bummer. Just gittin' use to the nice weather, working outside workin' up a sweat, drinkin ice cold Bud Long Necks, chasin' she herself through the house neked. OOPS! Weren't supposed to post that. But it's fun!!!!!

We must have got 8 or 9 inches, so far, but it keeps switching over to rain, which melts the snow, then back to snow, then rain.... Only 2-3 on the ground. Still ice on the lakes, but the big rivers are open and the walleyes are hitting below the dams. Crappies and gills don't spawn till early June around here, thats 10 weeks away yet.

Glad I didn't de-winterize my engine. Surpose to get down in the low low 20's Sat nite. Checked on Pleasant Hill Lake, a little over half way thawed out. Now it's going to freeze again.

Been fixing air conditioners one day and then fixing heaters the next day. Now wonder I feel like crap!

For those needing A/C, get those outside condenser coils clean for optimal thermal transfer! Plus it helps prevent failure of your unit. About 80% of failure is due to dirty coils.

Hanging in there for consistant good weather...SS

Re: Well, Summers over

It depends on what is around them. If it is just dirt, a garden hose will work fine. If it is close to something that emits grease vapors like stove hoods, spray degreaser on them. Then rinse off with a hose.

When you spray the coils, you should spray from the inside out (opposite direction of air flow). Sometimes removing the fan aids in access to do so. Caution should be used when spraying them. Always spray straight on the coil to flush out the debris. Spraying them from an angle can fold or bend the fins over. They make fin combs to straighten them out, but is a pain and time consuming.

If water or degreaser alone does not clean them, a acid cleaner can be obtained from any heating/cooling supply house. Use a bunch of caution and follow the directions when using a acid coil cleaner. Mean stuff, but works good and makes your fins bright if they are bare aluminum. Don't use the acid if your coils have a dark anodized coating, the acid will eat them off. If using acid, rinse thourghly with lots of water to neutrilize the acid.

Hope this helps Nosleep....Good Luck.....SS

75F now, tomorrow at this time is to be in the 30's. Yuk! :(

Re: Well, Summers over

I think we've posted before Craig over in the "Outboard" forum. Weren't you the one trying to find charging capabilities on yer rig? That's a nice looking restoration there. But would rather see it on a warm summers day. By the way, did ya' have to scrap the windshield or do ya just turn on the defrosters and let her warm up?
