Wellcraft purchase

I'm considering buying a good condition 1990 Welcraft 210 Coastal.
The only odd thing I found is an outboard bracket was added to the transom.
There is a small hole above the bracket where they fed the engine controls.
Didthis boatoriginally have an in board outboard?
Looking inside the transom I see 4 original holes where the outdirve may have been attached. I see no evidence that there was an inboard out board motor in the floor of the boat???Help!

Re: Wellcraft purchase

Welcome to iboats! Can you post some pics - it will probably be fairly easy to tell from those what kind of original configuration the boat was built with. A quick google of the type pulled up the same year and type with outboard power.

Great old boat. You'll love it. Does it not have an engine currently? If not, hang a nice motor on it and go... I'm guessing price sans engine should be around $2500?

Re: Wellcraft purchase

The boat has a 1991 Yamaha 250 L250TXRP

There asking 2500.00 for whole package.
Sorry no pic's of the boat.
The transom is high with no original cut out seen for the outboard.
Could it have had a Volvo Penta prior? Even though I see no evidence where the motor would have been mounted and covered?

Re: Wellcraft purchase

Why are you so concerned about whether it originally had an I/O? Many folks change to a bracket mounted outboard, it's an excellent upgrade. Just be glad someone else already did it for you. The boat now has about 20% more deck area than the I/O model has.

Assuming the boat is solid, that's a very good deal. Make sure there's no wood rot in the transom & stringers. Absolutely 100% do a sea trial. If the engine develops full power, and the compression is OK, should be a solid purchase. Trailer in decent shape? Again: DO NOT buy without a sea trial!!!
