i have a 225 saltwater optimax 2004 and someone took the plug out of the back of the motor. (i can only guess they needed one for their boat) i didnt notice it and went out for a 40 mile run...the motor never over heated and kept good water preasure. the smart guages never sounded a alarm, i noticed it after we came back in and i went to flush the engine, their was no plug to pull out before i hooked up the fresh water flusher valve..how bad was this trip for the motor? and is there any thing i should do? i already got a new plug to put in but have not run the motor yer..thanks for the help and happy new year..<br />KaJo

If the engine runs alright and has no unsual noises, take it for a short, slow ride and keep your eyes and ears open for problems, then ck. compression if its ok you probaly lucked out. It don't sound like you hurt it bob

interesting post. i have 99 opti's. installed quick connect flush kits designed for johnny/rude and noticed both connectors had holes in side of them that are not blocked when the motor is running or when flushing. water squirts out of this hole when flushing but none whatsoever when running. didnt look into it any further. ran all season this way. not sure if there is a check valve in there somwhere that prevents flow in that direction. not advising anyone else to do the same but i saw no loss of water pressure, no overheating, and water pees out the back where its supposed.
