Wasn't sure what forum to put this in, mods please move it if need be. I am sick to my stomach. Tried to start my generator, turned over twice and locked. Took the plugs out, still won't turn over. I am leaving for Lake Powell in 2 weeks, and REALLY want my generator:( The boat is a 2008 Larson 274 Cabrio, and one of the selling points for us was the 5 years total coverage warranty. My Larson dealer is saying I have to take the boat to a Westerbeke repair center, and they will repair it in the boat, I don't know about that, with the 8.1 in it, it's pretty crowded. The engine will probably have to come out, and I'm extremely short on time. At wits end, hate to think I'll be on lake Powell with just a cooler and a gas bar-b-q

Can you turn the engine by hand (any method)? It may be locked for a number of reasons. 1) Starter was loose and now jammed. 2) generator head seized, 3) engine seized. Only number 1 is a "I hope it is this" situation. The other two mean the genny has major issues.

Why don't people indicate where they are located? They're are many mobile repair personnel available who are dealer authorized.

Although the boat has a 5 year warranty, the genset is going to be covered by it's manufacturer warranty, not the boat warranty (my brother has the same issue, it's either 1 or 2 years).

Lake Powell is out west, right? Call Westerbeke and see who their repair people are out there. Then get on the horn with them and get them out their! Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

I'm in Cherry Valley, Ca, near San Bernardino. The gen won't turn in either direction, not even a little.

One good thing, I forgot my fridges run on 12 volts, and now that I have 2-6 volt golf cart batteries, I won't be low on house power.......
