Thanks sschefer, I clicked on your provided link and they do show a 1395-9293 and a 1395-9594 float I think I need a 1395-9267 for my WH-13's. Not sure if what they have is interchangeable. Sounds like they got behind on their phone bill and got cut-off, not a good sign. Thanks for your help.

Re: WH-13 Carbs interchangeable? Update

Re: WH-13 Carbs interchangeable? Update

Update, I picked up the carb gaskets and the fuel pump rebuild kit on Saturday. Sunday I started the disassembly. WH-13-1 came of first (top carb). It was easier to remove the second carb by taking the fuel pump off first. So, that's what was done. I took the #1 top WH-13 apart and cleaned it. I didn't dip it like I was used to, just sprayed some carb cleaner and used a scotchbright pad and some cue-tips after reading sschefer's FrankenMerc thread. I have also only taken one apart at time. Great advice as the throttle linkage reinstall threw me for a bit. I spent most of the time removing the old gaskets off of the two surfaces. I used spray carb cleaner with a razor blade, then when it got close to the aluminum, I used a scotchbright pad with carb cleaner, worked great with no damage.

I'm on to needle valve and seat replacement. How do you know when to replace them?

Next question. The Vent Jets are not there.. The manual has them stock at Two on #1 top carb and one on port #2 carb (cyl. #4) none on the third carb.
Since the altitude chart recommends .004 smaller, I am inclined to install them and go with the high altitude (5k) smaller vents because of the smoking on cold starts. I probably need to rule out air in the fuel line first. The vent jet change will result in a substantially leaner ratio than present. Maybe too much of a change?

My floats are the same in color and look like sschefer's FrankemMerc carb pics, #1's floats do not sink after testing. Thanks in advance guys. I would not have tackled this without your support and your insistance to get the Merc Service manual.
