Hey i got an electrical problem and i hope some one can help... I have an 84 wellcraft bowrider...When my battery switch is turned to off the gauge lights stay on draining my battery... I have been disconnecting the battery after i use the boat but its a pain. Does any one know why this would have started? It just started doing this, i never had this problem. Any help would be great

Re: Whacky Electric

Where would this corrosion be taking place? In the actual battery switch?

Are they on before the battery switch is turned off. It sounds like if that is true, you may have some back flow of electricity somewhere... and that may not be good.

are your gauge lights illuminated when you turn on your key, or when you turn on the anchor or nav lights.

The gauge lights are on constantly as soon as i connect the battery, whether or not the nav lights are on.When the battery switch is off nothing gets power except the gauges.

You need to trace the wires back from the backlight on the gauges and determine where they go from there. Do they go into a switch, or directly into a fuse panel?

Need to know that before we go any further.
