Picture is a 2003 Evinrude Ficht 150. Owner says a cylinder has a hole in it the size of a dime. This picture shows 2 holes, but is that the cylinder head? No mechanic here...lolScreenshot_20211231-174008_Messenger.jpg

Happy New Year.

Is this the same motor with 90 compression across the board? Bad camera angle to tell if that's the hole, if it is a hole.

No sir different boat, owner stated the hole was just above the second cylinder. He said compression in all cylinders were close. Could this be a water jacket that failed?

Looks like a whole in the crank case to me and I’m looking at that crank shaft but I have had a few cold ones. šŸŗ

Well if it has compression on all cylinders, the connecting rod must still be attached, so something must have gotten into the crankcase, and the con rod bashed it through the case.

Skirt on piston broke or rod bearing failed cause rod or piston piece to ventilate block. Not worth much ..it a parts motor and not feasible to repair

Bought a 15 HP motor with hole in the block..------Parts I thought.------But a metal plug had come out of the crankshaft.------Popped the hole in the block.------Machined a new plug and installed.-----Used " lumiweld " to repair hole in the block.-----This was about 15 years ago and motor is still in good running condition.
