Does anyone know what are accepted temps when idling with muffs on dry land? I'm going into 180 degrees with a new 140° Tstat. When I put it in gear, the temps come down around 140 or less at times. The impeller is new and was checked. No issues with impeller.

Mine never goes over 140 idling on muffs and that could take 15-20 minutes to get there if I did it that long.
I normally have the throttle advanced slightly on muffs so it might be a bit higher than idle speed but not over 800.

Cheap Tstat or brand name unit ? Well worth the money for a good unit ...
What pressure is your hose at, low water pressure can cause higher temps and so can cheap muffs not allowing enough water to get into the system. My 3.0 would reach about 150 mabey 160 on a hot day or if there was a small kink in the hose. Underway it barely reached 140 degrees. Also mine idled down to 600 rpm which slows down water circulation.

Ayuh,...... How strong is yer water flow,..??
You are running the hose, full blast, Right,..??
Is yer hose system up to it,..??
At idle, the muffs should still be leaking, profusely,....
