1. 1963 Plymouth Valiant. Rust bucket. Wore out brakes on a regular basis. 2. 1971 Ford Maverick Nuf said. 3. 1074 AMC Matador x with a 304 cid V8. Ran like a 3 legged dog.
OOps. I forgot about the 1984 Pontiac Fiero. It should go in this group somewhere.
What it lacked in "guts" the Fiero made up for in an affordable "cool" factor. Not saying the car isn't junk, but like the Pacer it'll have an odd place in automotive history I think. I still see quite a few of them on the road around us.OOps. I forgot about the 1984 Pontiac Fiero. It should go in this group somewhere.
The last Fieros were actually semi ok once they got rid of the Citation suspension.
To AMC's credit, they had something way before their time. AWD/4WD in passenger cars. Long before the term "crossover" was coined.
The 4WD Concords/Eagles, etc. were pretty good in bad weather. The drivetrain was OK just the rest of the car was total rubbish.
AMC="Ain't My Car". Rest in Peace.
Our 1985 GT handled better than our 88 Mustang GT. Rode much better too. Only thing it didn't do well was turn in low speed parking lots! My dad later bought an 88 Formula, (in 1995) with the all new suspension, and it really didn't make that much difference in ride and handling. Well, that 88 was in Florida, on mostly flat/straight roads, as opposed to the 85 which he owned when we lived in Ohio, the hilly part! Never had any problems with the 85 starting either. It did "burn up" the electric cooling fan once, though, but dad re-wired it okay.
I am actually wanting one for a toy.
