What are these plates for?

On my 1988 Whaler Montauk I have 2 small metal plates one on each side of the hull just under the rub rail. No markings and they appear to be glued to the hull.
Any ideas what they are for ?

You're have to use Photobucket right now. Paste the IMG code in the body of the message.

Without a photo they sound like trim tabs.....

Sounds like they are mounted to high for trim tabs.

Why would you "glue" a trim tab on, that doesn't sound right. Maybe it's sealant you see not glue.

My first thought is someone mounted plates for a kicker motor(s) and/or trolling motor.
